An adventure filled day

Hola!
The Sunday morning church service was very nice. Our team was honoured with the opportunity to sing at the beginning of the service. After we finished singing a few songs in English, Pastor David’s wife Anna sang some more songs in Spanish. After all the worship, we listened to a message about thankfulness. (In English, Spanish and Creole!)
The children here are so full of energy. They love to teach us games and show us their fancy somersaults, and despite the language barrier, it is always very entertaining! The children especially love Sadie’s curly blonde hair. The kids love playing high-energy games, such as duck, duck, goose. Or pato, pato, ganso.
In the afternoon, part of our team stayed in Vasca and worked to put together and hand out food hampers. We would enter a home, hand someone a bag full of food, and continue to then talk and pray with them. It was a reminder that faith and the love of God is truly international; even though we don’t speak any Creole, and very little Spanish, we were still able to express our mutual love for Dios.
It began to rain once we finished handing out the food hampers. It is still raining, with some people quite literally up to their knees in mucho agua.

Sunday Hospital Visit
I’ve learned on mission trips to be FAT- Flexible, Adaptable, Teachable. Definitely true for today.

Marilyn dislocated her kneecap as she turned to do a video in church and then fell onto her elbow and jammed her shoulder on the bench.

I was able to reduce the kneecap but her knee remained very painful as well as her shoulder. So after lunch it was Carlos driving Marilyn and I to the hospital emergency department in San Pedro. Fortunately it is nothing like our Fraser Valley hospitals, being assessed by a doctor within 20 minutes and off for X-rays.

The staff were very caring and accommodating and Carlos was amazing at advocating for Marilyn. Decision was to get a brace for her knee and sling and swathe for her shoulder. Thing is today is Sunday and stores are closed. But Carlos went off with a hospital staff member to get the store opened and purchase the needed supplies.

Praise the Lord Marilyn is feeling better with less pain.

The pastor this morning spoke about being thankful in all things.
We thank God for His protection and leading in every circumstance.

Elaine
