Day 3 - Soccer and Chicken Dreams

Heading

Today was the bake sale day at El Jordan. The guys left around 9 and spent the day building race cars and playing soccer with boys at the boy’s center while us girls stayed behind and helped alongside the Bolivian ladies in the kitchen….(ie boys played girls worked…). Tomorrow is Father’s Day so there were many orders to fill. We made a couple of hundred chicken salad sandwiches, ham and cheese sandwiches, fruit salad, cookies and bottled juice to sell.
No one can dice veggies like a Bolivian and today I found out the same is true for how they prepare chicken salad! Think of the most minced chicken you’ve ever seen (actually probably never seen) minced with the dullest knife you’ve ever used and you will have some idea of how we passed the day!
We had so much fun working together and were privileged to hear the ladies’ stories. Everyone will sleep soundly tonight and either dream of soccer or chicken!
