We got up bright and early to a delicious breakfast as fuel before a day of work. Soon after, we were on our way to the church in Chivoc. There we saw the progress made on the church and where we would be working for the day. Our task: leveling out a grassy hill so it can become a parking space. Using shovels, pick axes, and eventually even a few jackhammers, we completed a solid amount a work through the course of the day. The dirt was flying! Moving the mounts of dirt is a such a gradifying task because you can easily tell just how much you have done as a team, and when your body starts at ache, and you begin to sweat, you just have to take a breath and look past the immediate dirt to see how many tiny mountains we are close to moving. After a much needed snack that contained a round of the church clap, and lunch break we got back too it. By the end of the work time, we were almost finnished!
Later on, we walked to a nearby coffee plantation. And what a treat it was! We learned about the process behind the making of coffee, and even got to taste some fresh, premium, Guatemalan coffee before returning to Pastor Victor’s house. We were tired and dirty after a long day of hard work and the showers were much needed and appreciated!

We started the day bright and early to go to Chivoc to do construction. We fueled up with yummy pancakes, eggs, plantains, and bananas. After breakfast, some of us got drinks for construction and then headed onto the bus to Chivoc. There we saw the progress on the church and saw where we would be working for the day. We were leveling out a grassy hill to be a parking lot for the church there. We got right to work using pick axes, shovels and eventually jack hammers which were fun to use. There was dirt flying around everywhere. While we had a snack break we jammed to vibey music and did the Church clap dance as well which was really fun. We got back to work and had a lunch break a little bit later. We finished a couple hours after that digging away at the hill. Some worked away at digging up tree roots out of the ground. It was satisfying seeing how much progress we made as a team. We then walked over to a coffee plantation a block away. We saw the process of how the beans are made into coffee beans. That was cool. We then were able to sample the coffee. It was really good coffee. We took some pictures together and then we were back on the bus to Pastor Victor’s house. We were very tired and dirty after a day of hard work ready for a good shower.
