Our day didn’t start the way we planned. A bus mix-up set our team behind schedule, and before long we learned that the patients’ buses were breaking down as well. What could have easily become a stressful, chaotic morning slowly unfolded into something unexpectedly beautiful.
With the delay, we had plenty of time to set up the clinic—time we rarely have. And almost miraculously, every supply we thought was missing somehow made its way to us. Piece by piece, everything came together, as if reminding us that we are never truly unprepared when we show up willing to serve.
By the time the doors opened, our Allstars team was ready. What followed was a smooth, steady morning clinic that felt like a gift. It was heartwarming to witness elders and children alike being cared for in a way that told them they mattered deeply. Each patient was seen. Each one was valued.
The patient bus issues continued throughout the day, stretching the clinic longer than expected—but no one seemed bothered. Not the team, and not the people who waited patiently for their turn. And in the end, every single person who came seeking treatment was cared for.
There was a lot of learning today, and still so much to learn in the days ahead. But one thing is already clear: this team is working well together. With each day, we will grow, we will gel, and we will only get better.
Sometimes the delays we dread become the space where grace quietly does its work.
Today’s soccer day in the Dominican Republic with the kids from Vasca was nothing short of beautiful. Being out on the field with these kids ,many of whom have so little, reminded me how powerful joy can be. Their smiles were bright, genuine, and contagious. Every moment was filled with laughter, excitement, and a pure love for the game, for physical literacy activity.
Despite the challenges they face, these kids showed an incredible spirit. They played with heart, energy, and a willingness to learn and connect. It was humbling to see how much joy they carry, how easily they share it, and how deeply they appreciate even the simplest things.
I came here hoping to give, but today I realized how much I’m receiving. Their resilience, their happiness, and their enthusiasm are lessons I’ll carry with me. What a blessing to spend this day with them, full of life, and full of hope.
