More than 25 years ago a group of churches bought a piece of land outside Santa Cruz that they dreamed of having a camp facility on, but they did not have the manpower or resources to build it. Twenty five years ago Pastor Rod and Anne spearheaded building Campamento Torope. Today we got to watch Pastor Rod and Anne as they walked around this property and shared their sweet memories of the times they had there.

Each town and city seems to have a plaza. These are beautiful garden areas filled with trees and gardens with benches, tables for playing chess, and vendors selling all sorts of things. Here, it seems, the community comes together, laughing, visiting and just enjoying each other. Today took us to Cutoca plaza, a small town east of Santa Cruz. We got to join in the slower pace of life sitting on a bench watching mom’s with their kids, friends eating together, all generations enjoying each other’s company. Birds singing in the trees, a fountain running in the background and sloths up in the trees!!  🦥 Such neat creatures!

Each plaza has Toborochi trees. The older they get the wider and bulbous the base gets and the trunk is spiky. Historically these trees were important meeting areas as they have large branches that provide great shade from the hot Bolivian sun.

Once a month El Jordan holds chapel on a Friday night. Tonight was the special Father’s Day Chapel. Which means that this morning we chopped huge bags of green beans, carrots, peas, Lima beans and potatoes. The ladies were hard at work making the most delicious smelling cinnamon bus, chocolate cupcakes and other wonderful goodies. The amount of food these ladies produce is truly amazing.
