When we first arrived today, Krystal and I were bombarded by one little girl who loves using us as monkey bars. I flew her in the air, holding her horizontally, and she loved it. She would shout “_NO!!” _whenever I tried to put her down. When I succeeded in putting her on the ground, she jumped straight onto my lap, trying to get me to pick her up again.
Today, we had one main mission: putting on a VBS. It was more of a challenge than we imagined. We had organized two action songs to sing in Spanish, afterwards, Lauri attempted to read a book to the group, though _none _of the children were listening. Then we went on to my favorite part of the day, which was colouring pages! The kids loved showing me their work, trading crayon colours, and helping me colour my page. Afterwards, we went outside to play with bubbles, frisbees, and bouncy balls. Despite how much energy our team burned off, the children were still zooming around after the VBS was complete.
The locals of Vasca have been slowly working on fixing up the community hall kitchen. While we put on the VBS, the men were installing a proper door for the kitchen and other small projects. After we had lunch, we got to work measuring the cement countertops to put on a laminate covering. We did one of the counters and will work on the other one another time.
All in all, today was very fun, and I very much enjoyed it. I’m so happy to be a part of this team, making friends in the village and being a helping hand.
