After 13.5 hours of travel, we finally touched down in the Dominican Republic! Stepping off the plane, we were immediately greeted by warm, sticky air and a sky that couldn’t seem to make up its mind. One moment, the sun was shining brightly — the next, dark clouds rolled in, and soon we were caught in a full-on downpour. Welcome to the tropics!
Despite the wild weather, our spirits are high. Everyone on the team has already commented on how friendly and welcoming the people are. It’s a beautiful first impression of the country and its culture.
Dinner was a simple but satisfying meal of tacos — and they tasted extra good after a long day with very little to eat. There’s something about sharing a meal together in a new place that helps make it feel a little more like home.
