Heading
This morning we had another early start, the
morning safari was planned for 5:30.
Within 10 minutes we saw 2 giraffes, a male and a female. They were so impressive and beautiful animals. We all got so excited and went on our way to see more of the amazing animals that live here. We saw buzzards, weavers and STOP there is an elephant in the river bend, too bad he walked away and was out of sight in no time. Henry our driver, taught us all about birds, animals and bugs in the dung.
The markings on some animals help the fellow herd members follow one another.
We got notified there are water buffalos by the river so we turned around and Henry went peddle to the metal.
And there he was, one big African water buffalo bull.
After 3 1/2 hours we had to go back for breakfast.
While we spent some time at the lodge, Alfred’s front yard was visited by 5 elephants playing with water and mud, what a sight to see.
Most of the group went to the natural pool,
where little fish nibble at your toes.
We had some debriefing and lunch and then the bus took us back to Blantyre. On the way we met Gerrit, the general manager of Timotheos centers.
We had time to go to the wood market and that is an experience in itself.
The locals all want to sell and it is their game to ask more than it is worth and we have to find out what we think it’s worth.
By that time everybody was ready for dinner.
We had pizza and the famous cheese cake for dessert.
