This morning we wrapped up our time here in Juan Tomas by teaching financial literacy to the Grade 10–12 students. Many of them shared their goals with us, some big, some small, but all meaningful. Hearing them talk about their dreams and then thanking us for helping them take steps toward those goals was genuinely touching. Some of their goals included becoming a cardiac thoracic surgeon, civil engineers, hair salon business, and travelling. Moments like that only gives us so many more reasons we need to come back. Such a rewarding way to finish our sessions.
Before leaving we were able to distribute food hampers to three families in the community.
The time had come to say our goodbyes. You never expect how quickly a place can feel like home until it’s time to leave.
With the work portion of the day complete, we headed to the beach for a little time to unwind. The waves, the sun, and the quiet moments together were the perfect way to close out this trip. Reflecting, laughing, and soaking in the last few hours.
Another unforgettable day, and an unforgettable week.
Tomorrow we fly home to our family and friends. Until next time…
