Moving people towards life

This summer, Nathan & Carla Neels are traveling to Bolivia and Peru to visit our international partners there, Lord willing. This trip is what we at Hungry For Life call a Vision Trip: an opportunity for our Canadian partners to spend intentional time with our international partners, exploring possibilities for long-term, direct engagement. The main purpose of this trip is for Nathan and Carla, as team leaders, to assess ministry activities on the ground and identify opportunities to lead future teams to serve in these areas. Seeing it first-hand, will significantly help them with putting together new teams. In Bolivia, El Jordán is a ministry center in Santa Cruz, Bolivia, run by Marco and Corina. It serves as a place of transition for families seeking to leave life on the streets, offering support, discipleship, and practical training for sustainable livelihoods. Many in Santa Cruz’s homeless community face deep challenges: poverty, addiction, broken families, and abuse. From a young age, children often carry heavy responsibilities, making the streets seem like an escape. El Jordán seeks to be part of the solution by providing a safe, Christ-centered environment where women, teens and families can grow through Bible studies, tutoring, and skills training such as welding, carpentry, and leatherwork. In Peru, Fredi and Judith, founders of ATEK (Cusco, Peru), were called into ministry in 1999 and began serving Quechua-speaking communities. Based in Cusco, ATEK is an interdenominational ministry equipping rural communities in southern Peru, high up in the Andes mountains. ATEK focuses on biblical, sustainable development by providing training and creating Quechua-language resources to support evangelism and strengthen families, churches, and communities. Their work includes biblical resource development, literacy programs, and leadership training for local church leaders. Alongside these efforts, ATEK supports practical needs through nutrition programs and regular medical and dental outreach to the communities they serve. Many of the communities truly are 'the ends of the world' - hearing the gospel for the very first time.
